JCS LR Approved

What tests are involved in Lloyd’s Register Approval?

We are proud that both our ranges of Hi-Grip Stainless and Hi-Torque hose clamps hold Lloyd’s Register Approval for applications in the marine, offshore and industrial markets. LR Approval demonstrates that our hose clamps conform to industry quality standards and that they have satisfied a series of independent tests looking at the design and quality of our products, as well as our production controls.

It means our customers can be assured that our products have been manufactured to the highest quality and will withstand the harshest of conditions found in the marine and offshore sectors. These include constant vibration, high levels of moisture, and exposure to salt water and other highly corrosive environments.

Creating confidence in the supply chain

Lloyd’s Register is known worldwide as a leader in certifying and approving products. Its service grew out of  the need  for  a  systematic  product  certification  system  in  the  marine  industry  and was driven by both ship  owners  and  equipment  manufacturers, who wanted confidence in the supply chain. Over time the scope of the LR type approval system has expanded to cover a vast range of products and a number of industries.

Lloyd’s Register’s approval process is extremely comprehensive and involves an impartial independent third party assessment of:

  1. Product design
  2. Type testing
  3. Quality Assurance verification of manufacturing facilities

Samples selected at random…

Performance and environmental tests are carried out in accordance with an agreed programme with Lloyd’s Register in a nationally accredited test laboratory. The sample products chosen for inspection should be selected at random and, where possible, should cover a series of production batches. LR  also has  to  be  fully  satisfied  that  the  manufacturer  has  a  Quality  Assurance system  in  place  to  ensure  the  conformity  of  the  products  during  the  various  production  stages.  To guarantee this, inspectors from LR visit the place of manufacturing annually throughout the life of the certificate.

While these inspections may sound onerous, we are confident in our production to know our clamps will pass muster. Gaining Lloyd’s Register Type Approval means we can pass that confidence on to our customers.
