Solar installation completed at JCS site
JCS is thrilled to announce the completion of our investment in a solar park and Virtue Battery Energy Storage system (BESS) at our site here in Sudbury.
This significant investment will benefit us in a number of ways, including helping us to manage our energy flows, maximising CO2 savings, and meeting our transition to Net Zero targets.
A huge step towards our Net Zero aim
Additionally, we have also installed eight EV charge points in our car park, providing a charging infrastructure for our employees and our electric fleet.
The 700KW solar park – a long-time in the making but officially started in September 2022 – will generate enough clean energy to power our operations and export surplus electricity to the grid.
The 500kWh BESS will store excess solar energy during the day and release it when needed, helping to smooth out energy demand and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
We are also hopeful that the solar installation will allow us to better manage our energy cost, keeping them low and – ultimately – allowing us to mitigate energy-related price increases.
Benefitting us and our employees
While we already have several members of staff that use electric vehicles, we hope that the EV charge points will encourage more employees to consider electric vehicles, further reducing both our and their carbon footprint.
This project was made possible in part by a grant from the New Anglia Business Transition to Net Zero Grant Scheme. This helps businesses in the region to reduce their carbon emissions and transition to a more sustainable future.
As a company that continually strives to reduce our impact on the environment, we are thrilled to have completed this installation and look forward to seeing the benefits – both environmental and financial – come to fruition.
