How do you know your hose clips will last the test of time?

JCS stainless steel and zinc plated clips are well-known for their exceptional corrosion resistance and are used by hundreds of businesses worldwide.

A key reason why our stainless steel and zinc plated clips remain so popular is because of their high quality and exceptional corrosion resistance. By specifying the correct material for the application, you can ensure your hose clips last a lifetime and continue to look as good as new for many years to come.

Use of high quality stainless steel

Our stainless steel clips are completely made of 304 or 316 stainless steel, the two most common grades of stainless steel that are renowned for their excellent corrosion resistance due to the high levels of chromium and molybdenum they contain respectively.

Where we differ from many of our competitors is that they tend to fit a .410 grade stainless steel screw to their hose clips – this is a low grade stainless steel and corrodes quickly. The reason many companies do this is because getting stainless steel of the same grade to work together can be difficult because galling can occur and the items can stick. By using the .410 grade together with 304 or 316 stainless steel you avoid this issue.

However, JCS’ approach has been to engineer the clips and develop a specialist lubricant so galling is not issue with our products. Being made completely of high-grade stainless steel JCS clips are ideal for use in highly corrosive environments and are used extensively throughout the marine, oil and gas, and drainage industries. All JCS Stainless Steel clamps carry Lloyds Type Approval.

All parts are fully zinc plated

JCS’ Hi-Grip zinc plated hose clips are given a high level of protection against corrosion and a mirror like quality finish by the zinc electro-plating of all parts.

In order to achieve the best possible corrosion resistance and finish, we have developed and built a bespoke electro-plating plant specifically for Hi-Grip hose clips at our factory in Suffolk and, therefore, under our own strict quality control procedures.

All parts of the clip are zinc electro-plated before assembly and fully passivated to reduce the chemical reactivity of the surfaces adding a further layer of protection.  Our production methods ensure that the edges of the band are fully plated – this is often not the case with many other hose clips where a pre-plated steel plate is slit into strips, this leaves an un-plated, unprotected edge along the whole length of the clip which is prone to corrosion in a very short time.

From tests conducted in a calibrated salt spray chamber, JCS Zinc Plated clips offer the best corrosion resistance in comparison to any other Mild Steel hose clip available today making them ideal for use in virtually all industries predominantly automotive, rail, manufacturing and agricultural.
