How do heavy duty clamps differ from standard ones?
Our heavy duty Hi-Torque clamps and standard Hi-Grip clamps may look similar but there is a considerable difference in the level of performance and strength the heavy duty clamps offer compared with their regular counterparts.
Putting strength to the test
For example, we tested the 70mm versions of the clamps made from BS304 stainless steel. The standard duty Hi-Grip produces 5.1 KN (kilonewtons) of clamping force while the heavy duty (Hi-Torque) produces 7.09 KN.
Considering the size of the hose clamp, this represents a significant variance.

The difference is in the details
Specifically designed for use with tough, wire-reinforced hoses that require higher sealing pressures, customers across numerous industry sectors employ our Hi-Torque clamps when an extra margin of safety and reliability is required.
Compared to many other design of clamps on the market, JCS’ Hi-Torque hose clamps are quicker to fit, have no loose parts and take up less space.
A key element of the design of our Hi-Torque clamps is their unique ‘straight line’ housing, which guarantees that every thread of the screw is fully engaged with the band. The addition of a high tensile band and hardened rolled thread screw provide our Hi-Torque clamps with at least double the strength of ordinary worm drive hose clips.
Proof is in the pudding
We have tested our Hi-Torque clamps to exceed the most stringent standards and designed them to function in the most hazardous of environments. It would not be an exaggeration to say that JCS’ worm drive hose clips are widely regarded by customers as being among the best in the world.
Proof of this has been independently verified. For example, JCS’ Hi-Torque clamps have been awarded a Lloyd’s Register Type approval for use in the marine, offshore and industrial markets. They are also one of the few clamps in the world to be approved by Lloyd’s Register for the critical application of sealing wet diesel exhaust hoses.
