JCS Hi-Torque clamps help track migrating walrus
JCS Hi-Torque clamps used to help track the migration of walrus population

An American university is using JCS Hi-Torque hose clamps to secure a transmitter to a number of walrus's in order to track them throughout the year and monitor their movements.
The initial problem was to find a suitable method of securing a transmitter to one of the tusks on a walrus to ensure it would not be dislodged or move and be impervious to constant immersion in seawater.
After several attempts using adhesive and various straps it was decided that the Hi-Torque hose clamp manufactured by JCS Hi-Torque Ltd was the answer.
The clamps use marine grade stainless steel for the screw, housing and band and with a setting torque of 15Nm are the strongest worm driven hose clamp available anywhere in the world.
The Hi-Torque clamps have been used for this application now for over 2 years and are still going strong without any undue hardship for the walrus. The information being received is very valuable in learning more about this species of marine mammal.
